Short film “Our Last Summer” by Alannah Wilson

Who is Alannah? And what am I fundraising for?

Hi my name is Alannah, I’m an 20 year old actress from a small village in Co. Wicklow called Knockananna and I’m currently fundraising for a short film which I’ve been working on for the last year. If I raise enough money the goal would be to film at the end of this summer and enter it into film festivals ect. This is the first short I’ve written and the subject matter is very important to me and something I’ve wanted to see talked about more for some time. The cast and crew would be primarily made up by myself and other actor and creator friends of mine.

What is it about?

Without giving away too much, “Our Last Summer” explores theme's of so many aspects of today’s young people's experience of love, friendship, loss, invisible mental health struggles, ambition, creativity, imposter syndrome, independence, growing up, relationships and their impact, failure, confusion, anger, grief, shock, how people evolve and how that effects relationships with the people whom we are closest to. Visually and from a directing side of things imagine films like ladybird and call me by your name (just visually now guys not plot!).

What will the money be used for?

As I previously mentioned a lot of the people involved are friends of mine and therefore are generously donating their time for free, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any expenses! The money will mostly be going towards filling the leftover crewing positions, renting equipment, insurance and locations (and also trying to feed everyone on set). This is very much a passion project so I will be investing my own money into this also but making films can get expensive quickly as I’m sure many of you know so i definitely need as much help as I can get!
