Short Film - Rocks Under Tide - A Dark Comedy Psych Thriller

Donation protected
I'm Brad Holcombe and I have been a comedy writer / scriptwriter for a number of years. I love writing and storytelling and the more I was involved in different projects, the more I wanted to be a part of production as well as writing.

Project Overview
Rocks Under Tide is a dark comedy psychological thriller. Originally written as a festive horror, I decided to adapt it so it wasn’t limited by the time of year.

I had been writing it as a side project for quite some time, but after getting into TV and film production last year, I was driven not only to finish the script, but to make it too.

This is a passion project for me, and after posting online about my intentions, I have met a fantastic crew who want to be involved.

With varied levels of experience, we now have a crew dedicated to bringing this script to life, and creating the best possible short film that we can.

We plan on entering the short into film festivals all over the world. This will not only raise visibility for the film, but it will draw attention to the talented individuals who work on it.

The making of Rocks Under Tide will not only be a great experience for all, but it will serve as a calling card to showcase our work, hopefully widening our networks and helping to secure future projects.

Plot Outline
Kate wakes and heads to the kitchen. She is greeted by her loving husband, who reminds her that it is their anniversary. The air is quite frosty between them, especially from Kate and we find out that this is because she is being unfaithful and unhappy in her relationship.
James tries hard to make the day special, and tells Kate that she has a surprise coming later on, one she “deserves”. This is where the red flags start showing for Kate.
As she becomes increasingly paranoid that James has found out about her affair and is going to hurt her, she begins to spiral internally. She is now faced with a decision. Does she act, and stop the situation from becoming worse for her, or does she go along with everything in the hope that she is wrong. Cue the phone calls to her lover.

Character Descriptions
James
James is a lovable lad. He tries to be romantic, and is totally in love with Kate and blissfully unaware that she is being unfaithful (or is he?). He puts her moods and negative attitude towards him down to stress at work and tiredness. Not the sharpest tool in the shed, but a genuinely nice guy.

Kate
Sharp tongued and very dismissive, Kate is the kind of person who “tells it like it is”. She is confident and assertive and is quite obviously in a negative head space. Kate was also confident about her ability to hide her adultery, until now.

Carl
Cocky and manipulative sales guy. Full of arrogance, he pushes his way through life. Behind closed doors, however, is a different story. He is not as confident and wonderful as he would want you to believe.

Budget
The main expenditure will come after the film has been shot. The location cost, equipment, post production, marketing and entry to film festivals will be the majority of usage for the funds. There will be ‘other expenses’ too, so that will have to be taken into consideration.
The more we can raise, the further we can extend the reach of the film, and if possible, pay the cast and crew for their hard work.

Production Plan
Filming will take place on the 12th and 13th April 2025.
The shoot will take place over two consecutive days.
Post production will take place after filming has wrapped.
Transfer of data, sound, colour grading and video editing will take place over an undetermined period of time. This is because the aim is to have the best possible quality film, as this will be entered into film festivals and used as a ‘calling card’ for the cast and crew involved. The goal, however, is to complete post production within one month.

Marketing Plan
Once the film is finalised, it can be marketed. A trailer will be made to advertise the film and entice an audience to want to watch it.
A dedicated Instagram page has been created, which will show pre production, production and post production. It will also feature behind the scenes, and other relevant detail.
There will also be social media campaigns to create a buzz around the film. These will take place on Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and LinkedIn and more.
The trailer will also be uploaded to Youtube, Vimeo and other such sites.
Email campaigns, social media hashtags and tagging will also be used to try and entice companies, specific individuals and certain demographics to watch it.
The film will be entered into as many film festivals as our funds will allow.

Thank you
All that's left for me to say is thank you for your time, and even if you can't donate, please could you share, like, follow etc etc so we can make as many people as we can aware of our project as possible.
