Thank you for taking the time to look at my campaign!

Please support my first short film and help raise awareness and action regarding mental health. The film is written and directed by me and features me along with other creative talents. My goal is to produce a high-quality film, which will pave the way for future projects and entry into film festivals.

ABOUT ME
I am a Freshman Honors student at the Illustrious Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. I am an up-and-coming film producer/screenwriter/actor, and I am passionate about telling stories that activate our human senses and encourage positive change. I studied comedy at Second City in Chicago and was a student at the Chicago Acting School. I am also pursuing TV & Film and Performing Arts certifications from NYU. This past Fall I performed in the 2022 Spelman College 10-minute play series. I am super excited as I prepare to produce my first short film which is a creative, thought-provoking approach to highlighting mental health from the perspective of a young black man in America. However, my film will touch the hearts of all through the lens of a human experience. Mental health challenges impact all of us as our lives are connected regardless of race, gender, religion, sexuality, economics, or politics.

LOGLINE (BRIEF FILM SUMMARY)
An illuminating experience taken through the eyes of a young black man discovering himself while tackling real-life traumas and adventures associated with being black in America.

WHY THIS STORY?
My motivation for this film is based on the killings of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, and George Floyd. I am also stirred by my first-hand interaction with my uncle who suffers from severe mental illness. I have personally witnessed my uncle’s condition worsen throughout my lifetime. Sadly my uncle, like many others with mental illness, is not well supported in a society that prioritizes funding prisons over mental health resources. In the film, I will also touch upon issues like toxic masculinity which often manifest into unaddressed mental health challenges.

Did you know?

  • 1/5 Americans struggle with mental illness in any given year regardless of race.
  • African Americans are 20 percent more likely to experience serious psychological distress compared with whites.
  • Young black adults ages 18 to 25 are less likely to seek treatment than any other group.
  • African American men are 4X more likely to die by suicide than African American women.
  • Black men are 4X times more likely to be diagnosed with schizophrenia than their white male counters and clinicians often overlook symptoms of major depression.

HOW WILL FUNDING BE USED?
Please consider making a donation to my campaign today and sharing this campaign. Help me bring this film to life – this is an important mental health story! Funding will go towards film creation, production, and distribution which includes the hiring of student actors, crew members, props, location rentals, and equipment rentals. Additionally, I plan to contribute 10% of funds raised to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to support mental health advocacy.

Your support means so much to me. THANK YOU!
