Nick Sheridan was born in Wexford in 1991. He attended St. Senan’s Primary School in Enniscorthy and St. Peter’s College in Wexford before going on to study journalism in DCU. After graduating, he worked in TV3 and RTE and in 2017 he moved to Glasgow and began working in STV Scotland. Nick later moved to BBC Scotland where he presented on TV and radio.

Alongside his TV and radio work Nick lectured part time in the University of West Scotland. Nick had a particular love for children's literature and as a children’s author he published several children's books, the last of which was published posthumously in July 2024.

His love for the outdoors was an important part of Nick's life and he spent many days in Curracloe and Loch Lomond swimming and paddleboarding. Tragically, Nick passed away on 6th March 2024, having spent ten days in the care of the Neurological ICU ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.

In Nick’s memory, his family, his partner Lewis and his friends are organising Shore to Shore, a charity cycle beginning on Curracloe Beach in Co. Wexford on Friday May 1st and finishing at Loch Lomond on Monday May 4th.

The two beneficiaries of funds raised are the Rainbow Unit in Scoil Mhuire, Wexford, where Nick’s father and brother taught, and the Neurological Unit at Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow via Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

We would like to sincerely thank the group of cyclists and support crew who are giving up their time to undertake this challenge in Nick’s memory. The cycle could not happen without the support of family and friends in Ireland and Scotland, and we know that Nick would be so proud of the effort being made to complete this challenge together in his name.
