Purpose of the Campaign
The purpose of this campaign is to fund Shop Oasis NYC sourcing and manufacturing in Kenya in October 2017. While in Kenya, I will be able to source, produce and contribute to the economic stability of women in country. Shop Oasis NYC will also be able to make in-person connections with digital influencers, brands and manufacturing facilities that will position Shop Oasis NYC to grow and expand over the next 6 to 18 months.
This trip will allow us the freedom to be able to price our items more competitively and offer a larger range of sizes, as well as make important progress towards our ultimate goal of supporting, selling and exposing African brands to the global marketplace. We will return back to the US in November, to be able to capitalize on Holiday Markets, ensure we have the product to put into place marketing campaigns and establish our ability to manufacture in the US and Kenya, while gaining the support of key players in Africa and raising brand awareness.
Shop Oasis NYC was conceived out of my passion and desire to allow friends and family to purchase the clothes and accessories I amassed over various trips throughout Africa. I found there wasn't a retailer striving to put innovative and emerging women of color designers at the forefront. I created it to showcase amazing product and to be a story teller, as I believe every product has a story to tell.
An oasis is a fertile spot in the desert, and like our name suggests, we are providing the fashion you thirst for; on-trend, high quality, authentic merchandise from emerging designers from women of color in Africa and USA.
We are seeking to re-launch completely by January 2018, with more merchandise from other brands as well as those of my design. Earlier this year we launched a small collection the Bell Sleeve collection. We paired African prints on the sleeves with men’s button downs. The response to the innovative, on-trend and unique pieces was great, and the demand for more.
We are seeking an investment to be able to create more product in Kenya to sustain and empower women locally, while being able to meet with key influencers and experience other East African brands. This will allow us to create lasting partnerships, raise brand awareness and return with more inventory in time for Holiday Markets in the USA and be able to fully implement some key marketing strategies within the US Marketplace to ensure our success and poise us to grow.
