My name is Diane Jackson and Angela Smith. We are starting this gofundme account to raise money for a special person who is very dear to everyone. Shonna Ford is an amazing co-worker, wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend.
About 2 months ago, Shonna began to experience extremely bad pain in her left leg which required her to go see a doctor. The pain was so bad each night she would go home and lay down because the pain was so intense. After everyones concerns Shonna made an appointment to see a doctor and received the disappointing news that she needed a full knee replacement and also surgery on her ankle as well. The doctor informed her that her recovery time would be anywhere from 8-12 weeks which was not something she could afford to do. Shonna did additional research and she learned about Stem Cell therapy and made an appointment to see if she was a candidate for the procedure and she finally received good news that she was. The only bad news, her health insurance did not cover the procedure and the out of pocket cost would be $10,000. After applying for several loans and being denied, Shonna gave up hope and this is why I am setting up this fund today.
I have only known Shonna for about a year but in that one year, I have gotten to know a very loving, caring, forgiving and compassionate person. Shonna is someone who will always find the good in everyone. She is all about family and spending time with her grand kids. In addition to Shonna's misfortune, she was also give news regarding her mother's failing health as well. two weeks ago Shonna's mother was rushed to the hospital and Shonna received bad news that her mother would need to start dialysis 3 times a week. Again Shonna put her health issues on hold to support her mother at a time when she needed her the most.
So prior to setting up this account I called Shonna into my office to ask permission and her exact word was NO and I was very forceful and explained to Shonna how she is always helping others and that it is now her turn to receive help and she just broke down crying and finally agreed to let me set this fund up for her.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 in 2 weeks so that Shonna can start this procedure ASAP so I ask that if you can give what you can to help a person who is so humble and giving herself. Thank you for reading this and please share with your friends God Bless.
