Shonel has been in severe pain for the last 6 weeks in her abdomen ,so I took her to our local hospital. The ER did a CT Scan and it showed that her lymph nodes were swollen in her abdomen and pelvic region, ER doctor told her that it was cancer.
She seen an oncologist 3 weeks ago and he ordered a battery of tests and scans. We seen him every Thursday for the past 3 weeks and on last Monday morning he called to confirm that she does have cancer. It's called Squamos Cell Carcinoma/ Malignant.
This past Thursday we went in to see the oncologist and he said that the cancer is Stage 4. The Dr. is thinking that it started in her pelvic area and has spread into her lymph nodes, lungs and bladder. He couldn't give us a prognosis until she sees a GYN. oncologist tomorrow, Feb 25th, who will do further testing of the cancer cells to know if chemo will help or not.
Shonel is my fiance, a mother and grandmother...she is on supplemental disability and has no life insurance. We are worried to death that God forbid the cancer takes her from us and having the burden of no way to bury her. Plus, we have the extra expenses of gas, food and any bills that her health insurance won't cover....And, I myself am on disability with a limited income.
I assure you that ANY funds donated will be specifically used for expenses during this extremely rough time in our lives. They will be used for gas, food, lodging if needed, medical needs that her insurance will not cover and for a funeral/ burial to lay her to rest.
Neither her or I like to ask for help, especially money or food help... But, as my church family and friend has said, it's time to swallow my pride and ask! We don't really know how much of a goal to realistically set because we've never had to do this and don't know what to expect 1 day at a time.
