Introduction & Background:
Heyyy everyone, it’s Shonda. The time has FINALLY arrived **cues Whitney Houston**. As most of you know my dream is to move to California and pursue a career in the entertainment industry as a film and television Producer.
I have shared with many of you how God put it on my heart to work in the industry and my dream to build my own media production company where I can host and create content that amplifies the presence of women and people of color on-screen and behind the scenes. When I think of Ava Duvernay, Oprah, Issa Rae, and Viola Davis — I want to be part of the solution like them.
Reason for Ask:
Recently I was accepted into the Act One Producing & Entertainment Executive Program that will take place in LA for two months. By participating in this program, it will provide exposure and an opportunity to network with those who can help me transition into this new career field.
My goal is to land a permanent role within the entertainment industry so that I can become a Producer. When I move to LA for this summer program, the internship is UNPAID and I will need to look for a part-time job to help cover bills and other expenses while living in LA.
I would like to ask for your assistance in helping me reach my goal of $4500 which would go towards the following:
1. Act One program(www.actoneprogram.com): $2300
2. Room and board/rent (2 month period): $1500
3. Living expenses (2 month period): $700
(transportation, utilities, misc. expenses)
The program begins June 8th. Thank you in advance for your generous contribution, encouragement and support. I will forever be grateful and hope you understand how much it means that you are able to sew into my dreams at this time.
