Shona Fetter is a fighter.

She is fierce.

She is fearless.

She is a force.

(And as we all know, her favourite word also begins with 'F'.)

And all of these factors WILL be her strength in the months ahead as she fights the realities of her recent inoperable lung cancer diagnosis. While we do not have a lot of information yet, as a treatment plan will be determined in the coming weeks with further testing and more information, we do know this- even a fierce, fearless, force of nature fighter needs support at times like these. And I believe our community will want to fight with her.

Shona has been a member of the Salt Spring Community for over 3 decades, and whether you know her from The Fulford Inn, Patterson's, Rock Salt, TreeHouse, The Local, Cedar Beach Resort or Home Hardware, you can almost certainly say she served you with helpfulness and a bit of edgy humour. Please consider helping her now.

As Shona faces this upcoming fight, she and Gregor are also facing the reality of lost income, off island appointments, specialized dietary needs, and all the unexpected things that will be added to the costs of living that don't end in a crisis. Asking for help is not something any of us do for ourselves easily, so I am asking for her. 35 years ago Shona became my sister-in-law, and in the time since she has become more than family or friend- she is simply one of my people, so I am asking you to help support her in this fight. Did I mention that she is fierce??
