Support for Shon Holderbaum and Family
Shon was on a training bike ride on Wednesday May 22, 2019 and was involved in a severe biking accident caused by a motorist that did not see him.
He was taken to the Emergency Room and over the next few days underwent several surgeries. Unfortunately as of May 28 he remains unconscious and unresponsive in the Intensive Care Unit.
Shon is a single father of two girls - Malia (14) and Lola (12). They are his world. (The photo is Lola, Shon, and Malia in Seaside Florida last June, where both our our families went for summer vacation)
This fund is being setup to support Shon and his girls. We hope to help with the incredible expenses associated with this accident and Shon not being able to work. Thank you for your generosity!
Shon's father Bill Holderbaum will be the person in charge of the funds raised from this campaign.

Shon...was riding westbound on Palos Verdes Blvd North towards Malaga Cove. As he reached Via Las Vegas, a car facing northbound pulled away from a stop sign and into Shon's path. There is no stop sign for Shon's direction of travel.
The first responder said at the scene Shon was unresponsive. He was transported to Harbor UCLA Medical Center. Medical staff say between the time Shon was picked up and his arrival at the hospital, his ability to respond to commands had improved. But they discovered fluid gathering on the brain and began trying to relive that fluid. A drain tube was inserted and IV therapies introduced.
A further assessment of his condition determined that he had suffered multiple fractures, most notably to his pelvis. The pelvis fractures also caused internal bleeding. Imaging also revealed a broken left upper femur, broken left clavicle and fractured left ribs. Shon was placed in ICU, a breathing tube inserted, and he was put under heavy sedation. He was listed in critical condition. Due to the head injury, doctors decided to wait to deal with the internal bleeding until the fluid on the brain subsided. A pelvic binder was used to control bleeding in the abdomen.
Shon spent Thursday under sedation with the goal of reducing the pressure on the brain and getting him to surgery. Late in the day he was pulled off the drugs keeping him sedated. That night, Shon moved his feet and legs repeatedly.
Friday morning, Shon was taken to the OR for surgery to his pelvis and left clavicle. He was returned to the ICU.
