Shoes for my Students

To Friends and Family,
In fall of 2014, I had the privilege of living in Vietnam for six months for the sole purpose of volunteering. During my journey, I taught English at a nunnery to under privileged kids ranging from the age of 3-14. The parents of these kids come from small villages and moved to bigger cities in hope of finding decent jobs to provide their family a better life. Instead, they end up working at factories just to get paid menial labor wage which sadly means that the parents can't even afford to send their children to public schools. As a result of this, the nuns set up a free school system inside their nunnery to house these children during school hours to help educate and keep them out of trouble. These children don't have a normal life because they have to work also to help their family and most don't continue schooling during their teenage years because they're family simply can't afford it. During my time there, I notice that the kids wore dirty half torn slippers so as a parting gift, I bought them all brand new slippers. This January, I will be vacationing there for the Asian New Year and I want to give the children something special and useful which will be a pair of brand new shoes. Something that seems mundane to us would be priceless to them. Through some connections, I am able to get 30-40% off from Nike, so please help me by donating so I can provide these children with the greatest gift in their life. I will be very transparent and show how much this fundraising makes and list everything that I buy for these kids. I will upload pictures of the spending and all the items that I will buy along with pictures of the kids receiving and trying on their gifts. Just the thought of them having something precious brings tears to my eyes. Thank you friends and family for your support, it means the world to me!
