Shocks Against Cancer

Sgt. Hector Solis was born and raised in Brownsville, TX. His family then moved North to the states of Michigan and Ohio, where he subsequentially finished his high school and college education. Sgt. Solis worked in the security field while learning more about law enforcement from his first police agency, Walbridge Police Dept. Once he obtained additional training, he worked for the Lucas County Sheriff's Office as a special deputy assigned to the court system.

Eventually, Sgt. Solis decided to move back to Texas, where he worked for a large metropolitan agency. His training and dedication to the job pulled him back to a community where he could use his community policing and training skills. In October 2016, Sgt. Solis continued his career with the Mustang Ridge Police Department as a patrol officer. He continued improving the department by implementing processes that benefited the patrol officers. This work and dedication improved his career, becoming the patrol sergeant to this day.

Unfortunately, in 2020, Sgt. Solis was diagnosed with Myxoid Liposarcoma. After a quick surgery, the tumor was removed. About a year later, Sgt Solis started experiencing back and leg pain. After more testing, he learned cancer had spread to other parts of his body through his bloodstream. He visited his oncologist, who suggested additional help from MD Anderson in Houston, TX.

The doctors at MD Anderson came up with a plan to implement chemotherapy sessions for the next six months. Sgt. Solis was mostly at home and a few times back in the hospital because of the intensity of his treatment. As of today, the tumors are controlled, but further testing is needed after his current resting period ends.

This fundraiser will help cover medical bills and other travel expenses experienced for this treatment.
