Brenn’s Brain

My mom didn’t want me doing this or telling anyone but I couldn't let her go through this alone. Most of you don’t know but my Mom is having brain surgery on August 21, 2018 (yes, next week), more specifically Chiari Malformation correction. Come on, we all know she’s a little crazy :) Chiari is a genetic abnormality where she has more brainstem than head space, so because it has been left unattended she is losing the use of her limbs and eyes at random, and it becomes permanent if you don’t act to correct it. 

In June her Insurance Co. said that because her surgeon, the best in the US for this surgery, is out of network that she would be looking at possibly paying up to $15-17,000 as her part. Yesterday, 7 days before surgery, they called her and told her they will only pay $5,812.00 TOTAL, leaving her with the balance from the $51,000 for total doctor bills. Because the surgeon is not in network he expects to be paid up front with a minimum of 30% down (all that is raised even after surgery will be going directly towards the bills). She has spent days crying, instead of spending her energy on prepping emotionally and mentally for brain surgery, she is now very stressed. I am trying to raise as much as I can to help her out with expenses so that’s one less thing she has to stress over..
