Amy's Shnat Gap Year

Hi, my name is Amy Kaplinski. I'm 18 years old, recently graduated from high school a few months ago and about to take a gap year in 2018. My dream is to go on the gap year program 'shnat' with my beloved youth movement Hineni Youth and Welfare, which I have been apart of since the age of 7.

This movement has shaped me into the person I am today. A young passionate, open-minded, enthusiastic and learned woman with strong values and beliefs, as well as fostering a sense of Zionism and Jewish identity. This is exactly why I would love to spend next year in Israel on this particular program in order to grow and develop as not only a person, but also into a young leader.
I want to instill the values I have gained throughout my experience in Hineni, as well as the knowledge I am yet to gain in this 10 month program to the Jewish youth of Australia.
Thus, I strongly believe that this program will enable me to become the best role model I can possibly be which will then benefit the Jewish community upon my return.

Unfortunately, Israel programs are becoming more and more inaccessible for participants due to the financial burden it places on families, and I am no exception to this.
I believe that with a little bit of help from my community, my dream ever since I was a 7 year old little girl, of stepping onto that plane and landing in Israel will come true.
