Shirley Nye - Medical Bills
Donation protected
Shirley went in for a routine cardiovascular surgery in August 2021. Unexpectedly, the surgery didn’t go as planned. One of Shirley’s main arteries in her lower body ruptured causing her to code for roughly 10 minutes. As the medical staff worked to get her heart beat back, she suffered a great deal of injury to her organs, including kidneys, lungs, and gallbladder. Once she was able to be revived, she had to be on a ventilator and other body life support functions in ICU. She was in ICU for a couple of months. During that time she had many additional complications. she had surgery to resolve some internal bleeding, and was later discovered that her gallbladder had died as a result of her coding. That eventually had to be removed. She was able to get off the ventilator and moved to a rehabilitation hospital. After being there a while, she was moved to a nursing home. Her kidneys are no longer fun functioning at a level that her body needs. She has been on Dialysis since August. She is currently in a nursing home trying to build her strength back up enough so she can come home. At this point, bills for the ICU, ambulance rides, and the daily medicare copay for a nursing home are piling up. We are asking for any help that you can give.
Shirley has alway been the type of person to give anything she had to someone that needed it. She helped all of her family (children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren) in any way she could. She went from being an 80 year old completely independent, strong, loving, and compassionate person, to someone that has to get help from nursing home staff, and family to do simple things like using the bathroom and things we all take for granted.
If you could find it in your heart to donate and help ease the stress of paying medical bills, Shirley and her family would be ever so grateful.
