Shirley Dedrickson, our mom, was one of the most beautiful, caring, loving, modest, selfless, strongest woman anyone knew.

She raised 4 great kids through many many challenges; bumpy marriages, divorces, housing and financial hardships.

She was modest in the things she liked. Preferring carnations over roses, ham sandwiches over a fancy meal, anything to provide for her kids while on one (crumby) income. With that modesty there was secrecy to shield things from us kids. We didn’t know much about her savings or health & life insurance.

Diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cervical cancer, Mom still fought for two years but ultimately due to the way her health diminished so quickly there couldn’t be a way to prepare us for the actions needed by the hospital; and unfortunately the funeral services that followed.
