Shirley and John
June 2020 John Lupardi woke up paralyzed from the neck down. John was ambulanced to the hospital, and due to in the COVID-19, there were no rooms available and he wasn’t allowed to have his wife Shirley with him. He was on a bed in the hallway and unable to turn his head. John was so scared and sobbing, tears were puddling in his eyes. His eyes were burning from tears, he asked anyone who passed by to wipe his eyes and scratch his itchy nose.
Going back to 2018, John’s right arm always hurt, after Carpal Tunnel and Ulner Nerve Surgeries, his doctor said he needed neck surgery or John would become paralyzed. They went in through the front and placed screws and fused two discs, and at that time diagnosed John with Spinal Stenosis. For two years, John was doing physical therapy but never recovered completely. The doctors believe John’s screws twisted and damaged his spine further.
So this past June, after many tests, the doctors did emergency surgery and added two discs, and fused two other discs. After 137 days in the hospital and two rehabs, a horrible bout of pneumonia, bed-sores, and Mersa, John was released since his insurance ran out. John was so happy to be in his own home. But he has a long road to recovery. John has limited mobility with his upper extremity, he has physical therapy and a home health aide to help with showers.
John and Shirley are the most dedicated and workers, they have the biggest hearts and are always the first one there to help everyone.. They’d show up at my doorstep without me asking for help. John has a garage where all the neighbors stop by to get their bikes repaired, weed backers fixed, or any handy help needed.
With COVID-19, John has limited
Visitors since his health is compromised. Shirley is not working to take care of John and their medical bills and home aid costs are overwhelming.
Your prayers and donations would be so helpful during this traumatic time of their lives. May God Bless You.
