Shirati KMT Hospital Fundraising (Tanzania)

Hello everybody! Please help Touro University California medical students raise funds to purchase medical supplies and equipment for Shirati KMT hospital, located in the Mara region of Tanzania.

Shirati KMT Hospital has generously hosted Touro University’s medical students for over a decade now, allowing them to shadow and observe its physicians over month-long summer externships. Following a COVID-imposed break in our partnership, we renewed this global health program with a three-week summer trip to Shirati, where we rotated through a variety of departments -- Pediatrics, OB/Gyn, Internal Medicine, Surgery, the Leprosy unit, and the Sickle Cell Clinic.

As we gear up for another round of Touro students to head to Shirati, we are hoping to build a stronger and more equal partnership with Shirati KMT Hospital. Many of us who traveled to Shirati last summer, even hope to go back as licensed doctors to provide care to the underserved community of the Mara region. We would like to fundraise in order to bring the healthcare workers of Shirati KMT Hospital medical equipment they need.

Update 4/21/24: Thank you all so much to everyone who has donated so far. With the next set of Touro students set to head to Shirati in a few months we are thrilled to be sending them with life saving medical equipment. We will be providing pulse oximeters, penguin suction devices, otoscopes, glucometers, glucose test strips, insulin, and vital medical machinery like ABG, EKG, and endoscope machines.
