Put on Sarah McLachlin ....
Anyone that has been to the shipyard in Bayou La Batre, AL knows about the bayou dogs. Goober girl came to the shipyard pregnant and emaciated; she could hardly walk.
Doc was here before the rest of us and kept her fed. It seems since her arrival, she was hit by car and her paw was run over which took half of the large black pad from the bottom of her left paw and ripped the pads around her toe nails. I believe that caused her to lose her babies as well. We have been tending to her wound, but it just won't heal. Goobs has gained about 20 pounds since she first arrived and is looking a lot healthier. Since she has already has such a hard time in the beginning of her life, I have decided to bring her home with me.
On Monday I brought her to the vet for a basic wellness check and she tested positive for heartworms. Heartworms are deadly. The treatment is expensive and a long process. I am asking for help. They also want to x-ray her paw and put her under to see if there is any debris pushed up into it and that is the reason it is having such a hard time healing. I had them give her all her shots and will do the boosters in a few weeks.
This dog will be coming home with me and I will give her the life she deserves, but I am humbly asking for a little help to get her in top shape. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and anything you can give.
Thank you.
