However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have encountered an unexpected challenge. The shipment of materials from Belgium we had initially planned is no longer available. After careful consideration and consultation with the team at Mount Olives Medical Center, we have decided to adapt our approach to ensure that your donations continue to make a meaningful impact.

A New Plan: Purchasing Medical Equipment Locally in Kenya

Instead of shipping equipment form abroad, we will now use the donations raised to buy medical equipment directly in Kenya. This new approach will not only ensure that the equipment is better suited to the local context but also support the local economy.

From Belgium to Kenya: Help Us Deliver Life-Saving Medical Equipment to Rural Communities!

Hi, my name is Mireia Modesto, and I’m a Spanish national who, last August, made a life-changing decision: I packed my bags and traveled to Mosocho, Kisii County, Kenya, to volunteer at a small community hospital. I thought I’d be helping others—but the truth is, the experience gave me more than I ever imagined.

For over a month, I worked side by side with the incredible team at Mount Olives Medical Centre. It’s a humble, grassroots facility led by Mr. Calvin Lizanga, a dedicated medical practitioner with a heart as big as his mission: to provide quality, affordable healthcare to the underserved rural population.

From day one, I was welcomed like family. I saw first-hand how tirelessly this team works, despite the huge challenges they face—lack of resources, inadequate equipment, and long lines of patients who have traveled miles just to be seen.

Now, there’s a golden opportunity to change everything.

The Mission: Deliver a 40-foot Container of Donated Medical Equipment

Thanks to a generous donation from Hospital Without Borders in Belgium, Mount Olives Medical Centre has been gifted a full container of critical medical equipment—tools that could transform care for over 20,000 rural residents each year.

But there’s a catch.

Getting this equipment to Kenya is expensive. We need to cover:

• €10,000 for international shipping

• €2,000 for customs clearance & port charges

• €2,500 for inland transport from Mombasa to Mosocho

• €500 for contingency and admin costs

That’s a total of €15,000 standing between this community and access to life-saving care.

The families served by Mount Olives live in remote areas, often traveling hours—sometimes days—to reach basic healthcare. Many don’t make it in time. Others simply can’t afford to go.

This shipment will bring in:

✅ Diagnostic machines

✅ Surgical tools

✅ Hospital beds

✅ Basic but essential equipment most clinics here don't have

With this support, Mount Olives can perform more surgeries locally, reduce referrals to distant hospitals, and provide timely, dignified care to those who need it most.
