Hello, my name is Mrs. Gladys Ncube, née Senderayi, and I'm a retired teacher with a mission that is very close to my heart.
My story with Bulawayo's schools is personal and goes back many years. I had the privilege of being a student at St. Bernard's, a place that laid the foundation for my love of learning. Later, I returned to the city and had the honour of teaching at Northlea High School, where I saw firsthand the incredible potential and spirit of the students.
My teaching career in the UK, at Mayfield School in Dagenham, has come to a close, but my passion for education hasn't. I've been given a unique opportunity: hundreds of beautiful, well-kept books from a school library in England that are no longer needed here. They range from classic fiction and literature to vital subjects like science and economics.
These aren't just books; they are gateways to new worlds, essential tools for learning, and a source of inspiration. Both of my former schools are in desperate need of these resources. A well-stocked library can transform a student's education, and that's exactly what I want to do.
I am now fundraising to cover the costs of shipping these books from the UK all the way to St. Bernard's and Northlea. Every donation, no matter how small, will directly help us get these books into the hands of the students who need them most.
Thank you for helping me bring the gift of reading to the next generation of leaders in Bulawayo. Together, we can start a new chapter for these students
