To give this some context let me first explain for those of you who don’t know what I mean by competing in Worlds. Worlds is the standout competition for the World beauty fitness and fashion (WBFF) organisation whose mission statement is to provide a platform for models and fitness professionals to promote health and fitness. This is something that I happen to be extremely passionate about and I will explain more about this later. However if you would like more information regarding this competition please follow the preceding link: http://www.wbffshows.com/shows/worlds/
Now let me tell you a little more about me and how I have found my way to the WBFF. Sports and fitness have always been a part of my life and it has always been a dream of mine to turn this passion into a career and above all to inspire and empower others through fitness.
Competing at the WBFF Worlds will be an opportunity for me to do all of this and more.
This journey started when I signed up for my first ever fitness competition last January, it was something new and fresh for me to challenge myself and it was indeed an extremely challenging and rewarding experience. Over the months that I prepared for my first fitness competition I learned a lot about my body, when and where to push myself, what to eat to fuel my workouts, to ‘trust the process’ and most importantly the importance of a supportive network. Over the months I have tried to document this through my Instagram which you can find in the following link https://www.instagram.com/shinnonf_wbffpro/
After the months of preparation for the fitness competition I still never imagined that I would achieve professional status and the chance to compete in Worlds, but here I am a walking and talking example that with the right support, knowledge and determination we can all achieve the impossible. Believe me, if I can do it, so can you!
Following your dreams will take you down some unexpected paths, and mine has brought me here and I couldn’t be more grateful. With that said, there is a steep price associated with following this dream to completion. For anyone that has competed or thought about competing in a Fitness Competition, you know, it’s not cheap! The flights to the UK are shockingly, the most affordable part of this endeavour and I’m fortunate to have family/friends in the UK that are gracious enough to put me up while I’m over. Yet, the expense adds up quickly, between the stage suit, theme wear, flights, spray tan (gotta have that tan, no seriously, it’s mandatory), hair/makeup, supplements, groceries (eating right is sooo expensive!!!), training, etc. I find myself struggling to see this dream through.
I know that I’m asking a lot and it’s may be perceived as a bit cheeky by some, but I’m asking all the same. Anything you can contribute to help me realize this dream and represent my “tribe” with class, grace and pride is graciously accepted and appreciated!
In the spirit of absolute clarity (which I value) here is a breakdown of the costs that I am incurring:
Suit/Theme Wear: $1500
Registration Fee: $548
Hair/Makeup/Spray tan: $500
Through this I promise to keep everyone updated daily on my journey. I want you to see every aspect of a competition, what I did wrong and what I did that was right. I want you to see my struggles and how I overcame them because we are all on a journey and I want to walk with everyone to demonstrate that we can get through this. We can create our own path and if we just trust in ourselves then we can achieve some pretty amazing things.
