Hi, my name is Vicky, I am the team leader of the Shining Water Paddle we are members of Georgina Island traveling around our territories waters, conducting our traditional ceremonies along the way carrying out good thoughts and prayers for our waters. Raising awarness of how vital our water and resources are to sustaining life here on earth and for the future generations. "Water is Life"
Not only will we be conducting our third annual paddle (this June 2023) around Lake Simcoe aka Azhoonyang, the Shining Water Paddle Team is excited to announce this year, that we are hoping to join and be part of the Muckle Shoot Tribal Canoe Journey in British Columbia this summer, we will represent our team and our work we do, for the healing of the waters and our peoples. We will stand strong hearted in representing our territory of “The Anishinaabe.” And our home community of the Chippewas of Georgina Island.
It is an honour to have this opportunity to join the Muckleshoot Tribal Canoe, to learn, to share and be part of some great work with love and compassion for the water and our people.
The Muckleshoot Tribal Canoe “Honoring our warriors past and present.” A significant cultural experience, the Muckle Shoot Tribal Canoe Journey was founded in 1989, now with hundreds of participants from all over the globe and many majestic vessels traveling in a traditional way, as our ancestors once did to hunt, provide food and so much more. We are very excited to be part of such a cultural experience and hope we are able to raise enough funds for some of the team to travel to British Colombia, Canada.
