Defending the Defenseless: Safety & Medical Kits for Madagascar’s Peaceful Youth Protesters
The Problem: A Generation Thirsty for Justice
For years, the promise of a functioning society has been broken for Madagascar’s youth. Chronic, crippling shortages of water, electricity, and food, problems made worse by pervasive corruption, are not just inconveniences; they are a daily reality that strangles opportunity and hope. In a nation where over 80% of the population lives on less than $2.15 a day, an entire generation is growing up in poverty, watching their future vanish.
Driven by this desperation, young people, Gen Z students and their Gen Y allies, began to march peacefully. Their demands were not political, but fundamental: food, clean water, electricity, and a future. They carried signs that read, “We are poor, angry!”, “Stop Corruption!” their voices united in a call for basic human dignity.
The response was a violent crackdown. According to a recent UN report, the state met these peaceful protests with tear gas, rubber bullets, and live ammunition. As of today, at least 22 young people are dead and over 100 are injured. Yet, in the face of this brutality, a new determination has been forged. The Gen Z and youth of Madagascar are now uniting stronger than ever, vowing to continue their fight for a livable future. They will not be silenced, but they cannot face this violence alone.

Why We Need You: Support a Grassroots Movement
This campaign isn’t backed by political parties or special-interest groups; it’s powered by individuals: friends, family members, and anyone who cares about justice and safety for Madagascar’s youth.
The students and the struggling youth leading this movement have courage and strong voices, but they lack the resources to shield themselves from violent crackdowns on their peaceful protests. That’s why we’re turning to you, the global community, for help. Your donation will provide the means to defend their right to assemble safely.
Your donation will directly fund three critical lines:
- ️ Protect the Peaceful: Your contribution will purchase respirator masks, sealed goggles, and earplugs to create a vital shield against tear gas and sonic weapons, allowing our protests to remain peaceful and persistent.
- Supply Frontline Medicine: You will help us stock and deploy medical kits with saline solution for burned eyes, inhalers for strained lungs, and burn cream to treat injuries from tear gas and other trauma. This allows our volunteer medics to save lives on the front lines.
- Offer Sustenance and Dignity: You will provide snacks, clean water, and basic hygiene items for protesters who often march hungry and thirsty. This logistical support is the backbone that sustains our movement.
Who will receive your donation?
We provide your donation to large organization like Red Cross and smaller collectives like genZ and GenY groups. We are committed to be transparent. To ensure accountability, we will share videos and pictures of the supplies provided.
How we select the collectives:
- We are screening collectives across Madagascar.
- They must participate in peaceful protests.
- They must remain independent and not be supported by politicians.
By funding this campaign, you are NOT SUPPORTING A POLITICAL PARTY. You are PROTECTING A GENERATION'S FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO DEMAND A BETTER WORLD. You are defending the defenseless.
Why It Matters: An Entire Generation's Future is at Stake
The youth protesting in Madagascar's streets are the same students fighting to overcome an under-resourced education system, where fewer than two-thirds of children finish primary school. When they are injured, silenced, or intimidated, we don't just lose a protester, we lose a future teacher, engineer, or doctor.
Your support protects their lives today and safeguards their potential for tomorrow. By providing safety gear and medical kits, you ensure these young leaders can protest for their rights and return to their studies, building a sustained movement for a just and educated Madagascar.
