We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Shield Downey. Shield was a remarkable individual whose impact reached far beyond our immediate circle, touching lives across the globe. A proud veteran, he dedicated his life to serving Alaska and its people, embodying a spirit of dedication and community.

In recognition of Shield's broad network of friends and the significant influence he held, we have established a GoFundMe campaign to assist with travel expenses for those wishing to pay their respects from afar, as well as other funeral-related costs. This effort is a testament to Shield's enduring legacy and the collective desire to honor his memory appropriately.
