My name is Lauri Siegel and I’m a 16-year-old strongwoman from Shetland. Earlier this year I qualified for the Static Monsters World Championships in Phoenix, Arizona this September.

In January 2025 I suffered a severe broken arm (not rugby related), which meant I was unable to train or play rugby with the Shetland U18 Junior Valkyries. After months of recovery, I only received full clearance in September from consultants and slowly began working my way back to fitness.

In January 2026 I began strongwoman training at the Shetland Weight Training Club, and within weeks I entered my first competition at the Static Monsters Qualifier at the Stoltman Strength Centre in Invergordon.

At the end of February I received the news that I had qualified in the Junior Female category for the Static Monsters World Championships in Phoenix, Arizona this September.

To go from injury to qualifying for a world championship in such a short time has been an incredible journey, and I now have the opportunity to represent Shetland and Scotland on the world stage.
