For those of you that know Sue, you know that she has dedicated her entire life to helping others.

For 10+ years, Sue stood by her husband’s side while he battled various health challenges. In 2024, Sue faced some health challenges herself which resulted in needing major surgery. She was forced to take a step back from everything she loved including spending time with her 8 grandchildren, time at the ball field, her family business, and her beloved Challenger Division at Great Kills Little League.

As Sue prepared to return to some normalcy this spring, a minor infection sent her to the hospital where she was given life changing news. In March of 2025, Sue was diagnosed with stage four cancer.

Sue has served the Staten Island community for nearly 50 years, alongside her husband Doc. For the last 20 years, you can find Sue and Doc at Great Kills Little League every Sunday running their beloved Challenger Division League. If you know Sue, you know what an amazing person she is and you know that she will give you the shirt off of her back regardless if you are family, a friend or a complete stranger. Sue is truly the definition of community.

Sue has spent the last four weeks in a Staten Island hospital, battling not just stage four cancer but also battling the flu, an infection, and pneumonia. Sue is being transferred to Mount Sinai in Manhattan this week where she will continue to be treated. While Sue has a long road ahead of her, she is one tough cookie and she’s ready to fight for her life.
