In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 27th, one of the strongest, most selfless women I know was in a high-speed, head-on collision on I-85 South near Mebane. By some miracle, she survived.

Though she was discharged after a day, her body tells the real story: stretched ligaments in her neck, a severely sprained ankle from slamming the brake, deep bruising across her body, and pain that makes even the simplest movement a struggle. Her seatbelt may have saved her life, but it left a brutal mark. Recovery will be slow, painful — and expensive.

She’s the rock of her family: a full-time caregiver and the only income for her household. Her husband, Jason, is in a wheelchair. Their 1.5-year-old son, Quine, has muscular dystrophy and needs constant care. Their 15-year-old, Chenning, is still growing up in a house already carrying more than its share of daily challenges. And now, they’re facing this crisis on top of it all.

She would never ask for help for herself — but she’s spent her entire life giving it. If you know her, you know she'd hand over her last dollar, her last ounce of energy, or the literal shirt off her back for someone else in need. Now, she’s the one who needs us.
