My name is Sheryll and I have a 4 year old boy Zoriehn. We are devastated that we lost all of our belongings and memories of Lahaina due to the fire. Our home and my job all in ashes. Getting laid off from work because it'll take years to even rebuild lahaina town. It has taken a toll on us both emotionally, mentally, and financially. We both get nightmares of the day of the fire. Also, PTSD kicks in for both of us when we smell something burning, see black smoke or fires, and when its super windy or when power goes out. My son is heartbroken that all his toys burned and are all in ashes.
Since August 8, 2023 my son and I have been displaced from the Maui wild fires in Lahaina town. We witnessed the fire that started up Lahainaluna Road all the way down to Front Street. Wind felt like 70-80 miles per hour leaving trees, branches and telephone poles down on every street. We were lucky enough to make it out with only a few pairs of clothes. I didn't think my whole hometown would burn down that fast. Also, didn't have enough time to grab more clothes for us both because the fire was moving down the mountain too fast.
My son and I humbly ask for any amount small or big would be greatly appreciated. It would help my son and I find a more stable place to live. Get caught up with our bills. Help us with cost of living and etc. Also, to help us get back on our feets and start anew.
Please help us by also sharing our story to your family and friends.
