Sherwood Family (Medical and Living Expenses)
Donation protected
Hi everyone, This is Rita Brosie, Rene Sherwoods older sister. Since August, Rene has had a long string of health issues. Neither Rene nor Matt would have believed what was in store for them in August when Rene first got Covid. Over the last four months Rene has been stricken with Long Haul Covid Symptoms (daily migraines, chronic fatigue, complex migraines, POTS, Heightened anxiety, severe body aches, Neurological symptoms that have impacted her speech, written communication, ability to drive, breathing issues, etc) along with other non Covid related diagnosis (Polycythemia Vera, Chronic Anemia/Crohn’s disease, a corotid artery aneurysm) to name a few. Each month since August she had a medical test, procedure, or Drs visit 18-24 times each of those four months.
Rene is a high school teacher at Teays Valley Local Scchool district. She loves her job, her students, and her coworkers. Up until November, Rene was still being paid at work through the generosity of other teachers. Unfortunately, she has run out of FMLA and sick bank days. She has several key Dr appointments in the coming weeks that will determine her fate on whether she will return to work this school year. At this time Rene is not able to make that determination without the consultation of these two dr’s. Recently Rene tried to return to work, but for reasons outside of her control she was unable to continue at that time.
She is very limited on phone /computer usage. Last week she was hospitalized for 6 days, and spent Thanksgiving in the ER (going by ambulance). Bottom line Rene is very Ill, more-so than what she puts on Facebook or leads others to believe. She is around $10,000 in debt from medical bills, pays $1500 out of pocket for just 1 of her migraine medications, has no paycheck coming in (and is living off savings to pay living expenses), half of her Drs are at OSU (an hour one way) and Josie’s round trip (to and from school) is currently about 2 1/2 hours a day (She is currently enrolled at Teays Valley Scioto Elementary).
No one at Kenworth (Matt’s employer) knows about their situation either. Please help me spread the word. They really need your help. If you are from Matt/Rene’s employer please let others know, as I don’t even know where to begin.
No donation is too big or small, and will touch The Family’s heart. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Sincerely
Rita
