Hi everyone,
Anyone who has known me over the years has known what a big part of my life my aunt, Sherry Lospenuso is.
Recently, Sherry was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis (Interstitial Lung Disease). This came as a huge shock to our whole family, as the scarring in her lungs is irreversible, and Sherry will need a double lung transplant at only 55 years old. She was recently approved by the board at NYU for the surgery, and could be called in any day. Sherry was never a smoker, and had been following a healthy diet and exercise routine.
Recovery is a long and hard process. She will be in the hospital in Manhattan for at least one month after surgery. Following this, she will need to return to the city once a week for mandatory testing. Sherry will not be able to work, and her family will be losing her entire income. Sherry is a mother and wife. Her son, Ronny, is a recent graduate of Stony Brook University and a current EMT. Sherry may never be able to return to work, as a double lung transplant is a very difficult surgery, and her family will need support as they care for her.
Sherry is a kind soul who has always gone above and beyond for not only our family, but also the community. Currently, she works in the William Floyd School District in the main office, and also worked for many years in the Patchogue-Medford School District. Anyone who knows Sherry refers to her as one of the nicest and friendliest people they've had the pleasure of encountering. It's our turn to join together to help her out during this time.
Please consider donating whatever you can so that Sherry can have a recovery without the burden of financial anxiety. All funds raised will go directly toward her medical bills, as well as any expenses she and her family incur.
