Hello, my name is David. I am raising funds for my wife, Sherry LaRue. We live in Cornelius, NC and have had to temporarily relocate as she is preparing for a double lung transplant at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.

She has lived with Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) for 6 1/2 years. Her oxygen requirements significantly increased after contracting Covid-19 in January due to her lungs' increased fibrosis (scarring). She spent a week in the ICU in Charlotte and was moved into the active transplant program at Duke. After beginning pre-op rehab to increase her strength to prepare for the transplant, she was admitted into the ICU at Duke University due to continued increases in oxygen requirements. She is currently out of ICU and in the pulmonary wing. This week she has been listed for transplant and is awaiting a matching donor.

Since we have had to relocate, we both have had to stop working temporarily as I am her primary caregiver along with having to maintain and fund 2 places of residence as well as making sure we have all her medical expenses covered.
