Sherry Stephens Beating Cancer

To all of our family,  friends and friends that are family, as many of you know my mother-in-law Sherry Stephens has been fighting Pancreatic Cancer for the past 2 years.  With your prayers,  surgeries and Chemo she has beat the odds to make it this far. Living away from family during this time has been very difficult for Jeremey and I.  This is our way to support and  help offset the medical bills and travel expenses. While the local community of Booneville, Arkansas has filled much of the gap  now Jeremey and I would like to ask for your support.

   Thankfully,  the surgeons and Oncologist both at NWA Highlands Oncology (2 hours from her home) and OU Medical Center (4 hours from her home) have been able to come up with a plan in order to defeat cancer (God willing). Sherry was given the news that she was in remission and we all celebrated and praised the Lord.  However,  it is a tough cancer to beat and the last PET scan revealed that the cancer has developed a tumor the size of a small grapefruit in her liver.  She will be undergoing several different and difficult types of surgeries in order to shrink the tumor so that they will eventually be able to re-sect her liver in order to get it back to a healthy condition. All of her circumstances have been unique which allows for the surgeons to do what they need to do.  If you know Sherry you know she is unique so this is expected.

     This is uncharted territory for her and Jim and there was never a moment that they felt alone thanks to all of you. Jim has been by her side taking her to chemo every other week in OKC and NWA which has cost them so much money.  Her sweet friends would step in some and relieve Jim in order for him to keep appointments with his Job with T. Shure Toy Company. The amount of appointments over the past 2 years in OKC and NWA have kept them busy and has made them spend more than anyone can imagine.  Not only are they fighting cancer but they are continuously fighting insurance for payment of PET Scans ($10,000 each) and although they help pay for Chemo it cost her $1250.00 each treatment out-of-pocket.  Sherry has continued her employment with Booneville Elementary School thanks to their understanding in this situation, but this has been a hit no one can prepare for.

       I feel like Sherry would give her life's savings to help us so I want to see if we can help her as much as she has helped us. Sherry's next surgery is May 15th in OKC and then again a week later. They are placing radiation beads around the tumor on her liver. We will always ask for prayers but I am now asking for donations to help her and Jim with some of the cost it is going to take to keep this fight going.
