Sherry Brown was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (bone cancer) which has destroyed most of her backbone. She had an operation to rebuild, but now has limited mobility. She was also diagnosed with Plasmacytoma (blood cancer) and must have stem cell therapy, which is being done now at Northside Hospital Atlanta, Ga. This was discovered right after my dad had a major acute illness that left him in ICU for several weeks on several different occasions. They have had quite a year.
Also, during this time, she was also diagnosed with bowel cancer and had a section removed and thank God a great physician (Dr. Honaker in Macon GA) was able to successfully remove. However, this added to the time, cost, and fight to the other cancers she had been battling.
She is now at Northside for 2 months and will remain there for testing, lab work, scans, and to be close for medical professionals to monitor during the stem cell therapy treatment. This comes after multiple rounds of chemo and radiation therapy. It has been a long battle, but hopefully this will beat the cancer.
Nothing about cancer is cheap. She has insurance, but only a portion of the treatments and medications needed to treat this are covered. It has been a long year, but she is doing everything she can to beat this.
Larry and Sherry are very proud people and have always been the ones to help everyone else when in need. They will not ask for help, but I am asking if all friends and family (if you can do so comfortably) donate $25 each as a Christmas gift to help them with the cost of medications that they are paying out of pocket. Not only will this help them financially, I think it will boost their spirits to let them know that they are not alone in this. They will be celebrating Christmas alone this year, since they are quarantined while going through this. So, this will be a particularly rough Christmas for them both.
If nothing else, please send them a message with Christmas greetings. I know they will appreciate hearing from everyone. I sincerely appreciate your help with this.
Merry Christmas & God Bless each of you!
