Hello and thanks for checking out our Go Fund Me Page for Sherri Feldman. My name is Jill Pekofsky and I’ve been friends with
Sherri for about the last 10 years.
Before I tell you her story, Sherri would like everyone who has donated to know she is more than thankful. The Administrator, which is me, Jill Pekofsky, is the only person privileged with seeing all the donators and information. Our friend, Sherri, also wants to stipulate that this is a temporary situation and she couldn’t get through to the other side without your loving support. This is an interim measure till her new insurance kicks in next year. She sends Gratitude and love to all who have so generously given to this Go Fund Me.
Sherri had, for many years, been trying every possible healing modality to relieve her horrific back pain, but to no avail. She finally had spinal fusion surgery on 3 vertebrae, which is depicted in the photo above, on July 19th, 2019. But the surgery ended up being a disaster - the surgeon nicked the covering of the spinal cord and she was in surgery a total of 7+ hours! Should have been 4. Her back healed from the surgery, but she suffered terrible consequences of that surgery, including pelvic floor collapse, neurogenic bowel/bladder, and colon damage. She required a second surgery to repair her pelvic floor which she had December 13, 2019, but it was a complete failure due to surgical incompetence. Her HMO system failed her time and time again. Already having an auto-immune disease called Sjogren’s, that much of western medicine is not even aware of, let alone knows how to treat, she worked and worked with the HMO Drs, desperately looking for solutions. Between misdiagnoses, wrong medications, unchecked infections and total lack of communication between Drs., her debilitating pain and suffering goes on and on. Sherri has been unable to live her life since the back surgery. With close to $25,000 already spent in medical fees, copays and premiums, etc... her finances are in ruin with no end in sight!
So her only hope is to make a foray into the world of Functional Medicine. And GREAT NEWS!! She has found a Dr. who can help her! The only problem is that he is very expensive and not covered by her insurance. He is willing to work with her financially, and even doing so she’s looking at many thousands of dollars in costs.
Sherri had really created a nice life for herself before her back injuries caused such pain for her, as a result of a fabulous racquetball career ranking 5th nationally! Having survived finding her mother in a coma, & subsequently dying on her 5th birthday (with no reasonable explanation), father abandoning her, & her infant sibling, being raised by an angry, vindictive grandmother, struggling to end a long term emotionally abusive marriage, she managed to raise an amazing son, and find a loving partner. Sherri had a successful career, years ago, which ended way too soon, due to the various Sjogren's flare-ups. However, instead of feeling self-pity or unproductive, Sherri began, doing wonderful work while she trained her beautiful sweet dog, Beau, who is now an AKC certified Therapy Dog. Together they go into hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living centers and schools and help kids read and adults feel Beau’s love! This surgery and subsequent medical horror has ended her ability to enjoy that life.
