Sherri Dodson: Cancer Fight #5
Donation protected
Our beloved friend and community leader Sherri Dodson has been diagnosed with cancer. This will be her 5th time facing this fight. She has an invasive squamous cell carcinoma that needs to be treated with Proton Therapy. After a lot of research and effort to determine the best course of treatment, she has been accepted to the Mayo Clinic located in Phoenix, AZ. There she will participate in their Proton Therapy Treatment Program, which consists of both radiation and chemotherapy. Regular radiation would have harmed her 23-year-old, still functioning perfectly, transplanted kidney. She will have to stay in Phoenix for at least two months for the Proton treatments.
Besides the medical bills, there will be costs associated with having to live in Phoenix for that period of time. A rental of a unit for two months and transportation. In addition, many of the physicians are out of network which means her co-pay will be much higher.
Her treatment is scheduled to start mid April 2024. My goal is to help her secure a place to stay, as well as reliable transporation while she is there. Sherri has helped so many people in various ways throughout her life both professionally and personally, and I feel that it is now time for us to help her with these upcoming challenges. She was the Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity for 20 years and recently went down to part-time but still remains with Habitat helping families with Housing Counseling.
Please share this with family and friends and consider donating to her cause. Thank you so much for your love and consideration!
