At the age of two, my renal nuclear scan showed no function of my right kidney. It was then concluded that I had posterior uretheral valve with severe dysphasia and reflux of the right kidney with obstruction of the left kidney by the diverticulums with dysphasia as well. It was then relayed to my parents that eventually I will have End Stage Renal Failure.
By the age of eight the reality of my disease took a major turn on my life. I underwent over twenty surgeries over the years, also having to do dialysis three times a week for three and a half hours sometimes four days; if I have to go in on a Saturday. This can sometimes be extremely tiring having to balance the thought of sitting through these hours with needles injected into my arm and balancing focusing throughout the day at school on the same day.
Having the opportunity of receiving a kidney would change my entire life! I would be able to live life a bit freely. I would also be able to attend a college out of my country without the bother of traveling far for treatment and missing classes.
Thinking about it, through it all, I have learn the simple act of gratitude and no matter how hard it may seem always be grateful because God opens doors when you least expect it. I am forever thankful for even being selected to be given a shot to be placed on this list.
Thank you for your contribution, no matter the amount!
