My mother, Sherma Henry was just 60 years old when she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (Bone Marrow Cancer, Level 3, last stage). She worked as an educator with the Baltimore County Public Schools for many years and was an active member of the Maryland Academy of Dance. Prior to her diagnosis she was busy planning her retirement (at 65); trips around the world, and looking forward to living her life to the fullest. However, this did not happen.

My mom has always been a helper and was there for everyone exactly when they needed it. Her diagnosis was a shock to everyone and still is. She fought her way through conventional medicine and tried it all including a painful stem cell transplant, along with numerous chemotherapy treatments. She suffered rare allergic reactions, long hospital stays, endless nights awake in pain, and was unable to eat enough to get all the nutrients she needed during the process. The conventional way of treating cancer left her internal organs compromised as well as developing an auto immune disorder. She knew continuing this way was not a choice and only had a matter of time.

Internally she was thinking this was not the way she wanted to live. She prayed endlessly for a better way. Thankfully she came across alternative programs and natural treatments for cancers and immune building support. Without her oncologist and primary care physician approval she decided to stop all conventional treatments and put her complete trust in God. She then began seeking out natural and alternative treatments.

It is almost two years since she stopped chemotherapy and the painful effects of conventional treatments of cancer. My mom is doing better than her doctors ever expected. Unfortunately, insurance companies do not support or pay for alternative medicine. To date, my mother has over $15,000 in out-of-pocket medical bills. She is unable to continue treatments until her outstanding balance is paid in full. We are doing everything we can to ensure she is able to keep up with her treatments.
