Kaizen Kinetics in Memory of Sherm Jaffe
Donation protected
Sherm joined the Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) program, located in the Kaizen Martial Arts and Fitness facility near downtown Monrovia, shortly after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD). He quicky became part of RSB family of boxers and was in classes 3 days a week. The program was designed to help PD patients build and maintain skills to improve the quality of life through a non-contact, boxing-based fitness curriculum. Whether doing warmups, lifting weights, floor exercises, or punching on the bag, he loved every minute of it and was always ready for more when he returned. He also benefited from a sense of community and camaraderie in sharing the journey together.
RSB Monrovia recently changed its name to Kaizen Kinetics and updated its mission to also provide support to individuals experiencing other neurological challenges dealing with balance, like MS patients and stroke sufferers. Kaizen Kinetics’ passion is to provide a community of hope and understanding for its boxers, their families and caregivers by providing assistance, guidance, a listening ear, and shoulder to lean on.
Should you wish to honor Sherm in a special way, his family suggests that you please consider a donation to this program, which made a huge difference in his outlook on living with PD. The director, Jody Hould, has assured us that any funds they receive will be earmarked exclusively for ways to enhance the Kaizen Kinetics program and its participants. Jody’s mother had PD….Jody has walked this journey with a loved one, and she has made it her mission to do all she can to help her boxers fight (literally and figuratively) their disease.
