Hi, my name is Jean and I am hoping to raise money to help my sister with medical bills. Sheri went through a life-threatening experience on January 28, 2023. She lives on the island of Molokai and during that week there was a tremendous amount of rain which caused major flooding on the island. On January 28 Sheri was walking on her lanai when she slipped on some water and fell to the ground which caused her hip to break. Firefighters were able to get to her through the floods but unfortunately could not get out for 22 hours. My poor sister laid on that balcony for 22 hours with a broken hip and no pain relief. Finally after waiting that long they were able to get her off the island and to Queens Hospital in Oahu. She had surgery a couple days later to repair her hip. She stayed at Queens a few days later and then was transferred to a rehabilitation center nearby. Because Medicare only covers a certain amount she can not afford to stay as they want her to pay $200 a day to stay. She will be leaving on March 2 to go home. I am flying in on the 1st to be with her and stay a few months to care for my sis. Any money donated will go directly to medical bills and expenses she will have to pay. Sheri is retired, lives alone on a fixed income. She is a very strong woman and has worked really hard to recover from the surgery and her terrible experience. I don’t want her to worry about money.
