Sheri Harrell Green Frt Lauderdale Flood Help
Donation protected
You may have heard that Fort Lauderdale had a couple of days of heavy rain and the neighborhood adjacent to the Airport (FLL) was flooded with 2+ feet of water. This was a 1,000-year flood and it affected hundreds of homes, including my sister, Sheri.
Sheri, unfortunately, did not have flood insurance, and due to ongoing medical conditions, she doesn’t have the income to dig herself out. My brother and I traveled to her home and helped move all of her personal belongings out of her house, cut out the plaster walls, and cabinets, and clean up so that it can dry.
It’s almost a total loss, including her car that just had $3,000 work done on it and the car insurance totaled it with a value of only $2,700.
She is currently homeless as the house is not safe to live in, she has no family in the area, and she has to stay local to handle the details. We hope her homeowners’ insurance will pay for some things as we found older leaks in roof, and we pray that this horrific event will be declared a disaster and FEMA will help.
In the meantime, she needs a place to stay, transportation, and finding contractors to start the rebuilding. Any help will be appreciated and will go directly to handle her immediate needs.
