Shepherd Cash Riddle has always been a light in everyone lives. His beautiful blue eyes just draw you in and then you see that warm smile.
Shepherd just started Kindergarten and shouldn't be having to face what he's facing at 5 years old. Shep has always had to face many challenges that HE HAS ALWAYS BEAT. His next challenge will be his biggest yet. He was just recently diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy-a fatal muscular disease.
Already the community has come together in different ways for the Riddles. The have been showed what it means to have family, church family, friends and even strangers love them during this process of the diagnosis. It has been heartwrenching as we could only even begin to imagine. Clint and Hannah work very hard and provide a beautiful life for their family. BUT they also have spent their lives pouring out into others. They have always gived whatever they could to help and love others. With the all the obstacles they are currenty facing, money shouldn't be one of them. Not the Riddles... That's were community takes it to the next level.
The Riddles have the following expenses they are facing for Shep.
1. Disneyland this Christmas. Shep is already weak. He is already having issues making it up the stairs and playing with his siblings and friends. He has been asking to go to Disney for awhile now and the Riddle's want him to go WHILE HE CAN STILL WALK. They'd like to take the trip during the winter, because of two reasons. One, they don't know what summer will look like because his disease is advanced. Two, the summer and the heat is terrible for people who suffer with Duchenne. We do know that there are programs that offer these trips for kids who are going through terrible diseases, for right now... please trust the Riddle's on why it's best to wait for that.
2. A renovation to their house. Shep is currently having issues making it upstairs and that's where his room is at. They need to convert their diningroom into a bedroom for Shep.
3. The medical bills are already stacking up. He just started two daily prescriptions. Clint has already missed quite a bit of income from missing work.
4. An electric wheel chair. Shepherd will not be able to have an ordinary wheel chair because he will be too weak to push himself when the times comes. He will need an electric wheel chair which is very expensive. The Riddles need to plan ahead.
5. Handicap vehicle. His wheel chair will need a ramp and won't be able to be lifted in the car.
Please also be praying for Shepherd! Pray for a cure!!! That God would completely heal him in the name of Jesus. That God would take this situation with Shepherd and do something that only God can do. That science and Jesus would meet. Pray for the scientists and the doctors who are working diligenlty for a cure. That you would help them see what they are missing and help them find the missing link. That there would be an end to this terrible disease. Pray for LONG LIFE FOR SHEP!!!
