Stephen Lloyd Hendry II, MD passed away, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the age of 42. Born and raised in Monroe, LA, he excelled in academics & sports at Neville High School in Monroe.
His career blossomed during his college years at LSU as an undergraduate where through his rigorous hard work selected Tulane University of Medicine where he was diligent resident of General Surgery.
A man of many interests and career options, Stephen served the New Orleans medical community with dedication for many years at St. Bernard Parish Hospital.
His dedication was recognized by his peers with several distinguished awards, among which were the Vivien Thomas Award for Cardiovascular Surgery & a clinical research fellowship at Stanford University.
His compassionate career was not confined to medicine, as evidenced by his involvement with CASA, Comfort Zone Camp and Roots of Music. His life was embedded with kindness, an infectious personality, quick wit & humor.
Stephen was proceeded in death by his father, Stephen Lloyd Hendry. He is survived by his mother, Cindy Schmitt Hendry, aunts, uncles and many friends and medical associates. Significant among those especially close to him was his true love, Ashley Kostmayer, and many former classmates.
Jacques, his beloved French bulldog, was often seen with him in his daily walks.
Future private ceremonies are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made here in the memory of Stephen. Donations will be for expenses for his mother. Give as your heart desires.
