About us: We are Bar and Yishai, two years ago we moved to Portugal with an inner request for a new station in life, to get closer to nature, to make art and be touched by new energy.
We settled in Alentejo West (two hours south from Lisbon, coast side), an area that in the last ten years unites an international alternative community from all over the world.
We started our journey by volunteering in existing projects, we studied the land and were touched by the activities and human encounters.
We adapted to the country, learned the Portuguese language and were exposed to the ancient and rich Portuguese culture.
At this point in our journey, we are interested in uniting the learning and human connections we have created into a special center in nature, which will unite our love for art, language and Spiritual studies, dance, culture, community events and fresh and nutritious food based on local organic sustainability.

A meeting place for locals and passers-by.
A place that will invite people from around the world to connect together and create art and culture as a significant part of their stay or visit in Portugal.
The creation of ‘Shemesh’ began on a day of hiking in nature. We noticed an abandoned school among ancient cork oak trees a few minutes' walk from a flowing stream and magical natural pools.
We approached the regional council with the aim of turning the abandoned school into a center of art, culture and spirit.
After months of bureaucracy and faith, we received the approval for the project.
The building will be divided into three spaces
Gather Space and & Organic Shop from local crops and produce.
Ceramic Studio which will also be used for art workshops and art therapy.
Hosting space for spiritual culture, Portuguese language studies and dance studio.
We are happy and excited to invite you to be a part of our journey, support us and arrive at the right time to take part, participate in the events that will happen during your visit and even use the space and lead a workshop yourself.
The financial support will be invested in the renovation and electricity and water infrastructures.
Any kind of support will be welcomed and will become an invitation to an experiential creation at the center.

Sobre nós: Somos o Bar e o Yishai e mudámo-nos há dois anos para Portugal respondendo a um pedido interior de uma nova fase na nossa vida, de maior aproximação com a natureza, de praticar arte e de sermos tocados por novas energias.
Instalámo-nos no Sudoeste Alentejano (duas horas a sul de Lisboa, no litoral), uma zona que nos últimos dez anos juntou uma comunidade alternativa internacional oriunda de todo o mundo.
Começámos a nossa jornada como voluntários em projetos já existentes no território, estudámos esta terra e fomos tocados pelas várias atividades e pelos encontros humanos.
Adaptámo-nos ao país, aprendemos a língua portuguesa e fomos expostos à cultura deste país, tão rica quanto antiga.
Neste momento da nossa jornada, estamos interessados em juntar a aprendizagem e as conexões humanas que criámos em torno de um centro especial na natureza que unirá o nosso amor pela arte, linguagem, estudos espirituais, dança, cultura, eventos comunitários e alimentos frescos e nutritivos baseados na sustentabilidade orgânica local.

Estabelecer um ponto de encontro através da arte e terapia, linguagem e estudos espirituais, dança e eventos culturais sociais.
Ponto de encontro entre residentes e visitantes.
Um lugar que convida pessoas de todo o mundo a conectarem-se e a criarem arte e cultura como parte significativa da sua estadia ou visita a Portugal.
A criação de ‘Shemesh’ (sol) começou num dia de caminhada na natureza. Reparámos numa escola abandonada entre sobreiros antigos, a poucos minutos a pé de uma ribeira e de piscinas naturais mágicas.
Abordámos o município com o objetivo de transformar a escola abandonada num centro de arte, cultura e conexão espiritual.
Após meses de burocracia e fé, recebemos a aprovação do projeto.
O edifício será dividido em três espaços:
- Espaço de compra de produtos orgânicos de colheitas e produtos locais.
- Estúdio de cerâmica, que também será utilizado para oficinas de arte e arte-terapia.
- Espaço para acolher práticas de cultura espiritual, estudos de língua portuguesa e estúdio de dança.
Temos o prazer de o convidar a fazer parte da nossa jornada, a apoiar-nos, a participar e a integrar os eventos que irão acontecer durante a sua visita e ainda a utilizar o espaço e criar o seu próprio workshop.
O apoio financeiro será investido na reabilitação e infraestruturas de eletricidade e água.
Qualquer tipo de apoio é bem-vindo e tornar-se-á um convite para uma criação experiencial no centro Shemesh(sol).
