Burial
On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, 8:11a.m., we lost my sister-in-law, Shemekia Byfield. Shemekia passed away peacefully in her sleep, and her kids found her unresponsive while attempting to go through their morning school routine.
Shemekia was an awesome mother to two young children, a beautiful 12 year old girl name Leslie, and a handsome young boy name Devin. Shemekia would do anything for her children or her family. She was very close to her brothers, especially my husband, Tahmarley, who is shattered by her death.
Shemekia and her two brothers, including my husband Tahmarley Davis, also recently lost their mother this year, January 7, 2018 to stage 4 lung cancer, and it was devastating for everyone but specifically to her only daughter, Shemekia. Our family witnessed the heartbreak that Shemekia suffered due to the loss of her mom, and although we were all heartbroken... it truly wore on Shemekia’s heart, and she internalized a lot of the pain.
Shemekia was unemployed at the time of her death, and therefore passed away without any insurance coverage, so there are no funds to cover funeral or burial costs. As we all know, funerals are costly but yet required to lay a loved one to rest. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place because the biggest need we have right now is the money to bury her and what you see here is what we’ve got to do it. Any little bit helps!
My husband loves his sister so much that he paid for these expenses with his credit card (money we don’t have) to cover the cost of his sisters funeral and burial, since it’s required prior to commencement. I’ve attached a copy of the receipts, and I’ve asked him to please allow me to reach out to social media to see what I can do because if a lot of people could give a little, then it would result in a lot of help towards covering some of the costs.
So we are attempting to gain the help of family and friends to raise money to cover some of the funeral expenses, and bury Shemekia in dignity next to her mother, so her two young children can rest a bit more peaceful at night and know that their mommy lies next to her mommy. We appreciate anything you can give to contribute and we want to thank everyone for their kind words thoughts and prayers!!
The viewing is being held at Gregory B. Levett and Sons, Rockdale Chapel locates at 1999 Hwy.138 SE Conyers GA 30013. Friends and family may visit between 12 noon - 8pm. The funeral service will be held the next morning at the same location as the viewing 1999 Hwy. 138 SE Conyers GA 30013, on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10a.m. Upon completion, we will meet at her burial site, Hillandale Memorial Gardens located at 6201 Hillandale Drive, Lithonia, GA 30058. We ask that all cellphones are turned off and please be considerate, and not talk during services. Please pray for our family during this time.
