Safe Shelter for Homeless Women

South Bend has over 100 people living on the streets, the most vulnerable are women. Severe mental illness (such as schizophrenia), developmental delays, traumatic brain injuries, and substance abuse prevents these people from being successfully housed in our city's homeless shelters.

During the winter months, Life Treatment Centers provides safe, overnight shelter for women to prevent them from freezing to death. They have room for 10 women however nearly 20 women have been consistently seeking shelter there.

Life Treatment Centers needs to hire a part-time weather amnesty attendant immediately to open a second area in their building to safely accommodate this vulnerable population.

Life Treatment Centers receives no additional funding to house homeless women during the cold weather months, they open their doors as a humanitarian effort. Please help them provide shelter for all homeless women who need a safe, warm place to sleep at night.
