This is my father, Shawn. He’s not perfect but I love him immensely. I grew up seeing the best & the worst of his life. He’s been one of my biggest supporters, teachers & protectors in life. He loves animals & nature. He pets bees & always helps injured wildlife. He used to ride bicycles & motorcycles and go camping whenever possible. When he had a source of income, he would give the little money he had to those in need. He’s charming, friendly & outgoing. He raised me to be accepting, loving & generous. The unfortunate part about my dad is that he’s had an incredibly hard life & terrible luck. He’s a multiple TBI survivor. He broke his back when he was very young causing life long back pain. He was diagnosed with epilepsy at a very young age as well. As he’s gotten older, his epilepsy has gotten much worse & doctors aren’t able to control it with medications anymore. 7 years ago his fiancé passed away suddenly, of an aneurysm, leaving only me to fight for him. Last year he injured his foot & required multiple corrective surgeries. A few months ago, he started to lose his vision rapidly. Recently, he has started becoming confused & is having a hard time taking care of himself. We aren’t sure if this is a side effect of the seizures or something else. He has lost an immense amount of weight due to his medical issues & his lack of access to food & a warm place to sleep. My father lost his place to live several month ago, he has been in & out of the hospital with various medical issues but in between those short hospital stays, him & his seizure alert dog, Hannah, live in his broken down truck. This is impacting his health & safety greatly. I fear for my fathers life daily & I’m trying to help where I can but I live in Texas & I myself I don’t have the financial means to help as much as needed. I don’t know what else to do but ask for help. If anybody is willing & able to donate funds or time, anything would be more than appreciated. All donations will be used to help pay for food, housing, care & medical expenses.
