I’m starting this fundraiser for my friend, who lost his home in Hurricane Lowell in Wainiha, Kauai. In an instant, he was left without a place to live and lost everything he owns. If you know Trent, you know how humble he is. He’s the kind of person who would be the last to ask anyone for help, which is why we’re asking for him now.

Our friend Trent Parke nearly lost his life when Hurricane Lowell caused the river near his home on Kauaʻi to rise violently and sweep his house off its foundation.

The force of the flooding carried Trent’s home approximately 50 yards downstream, where it came to rest in a massive pile of logs and debris. Exiting he was caught in the rushing water and was swept down the river. He managed to survive by clinging to a hau bush and swimming from one section to another as they gave way, for approximately eight hours before finally swimming to safety early the next morning.

Trent survived, but he lost virtually everything.

His home is gone. His personal belongings have been destroyed, and everything he owns has been destroyed.

Right now, Trent is staying with a neighbors and trying to figure out what comes next.

We are starting this fundraiser to help Trent get back on his feet. Donations will help provide him with immediate necessities, a stable place to live, and the many unexpected expenses that come with losing your home and nearly everything you own.

Trent has been through an unimaginable experience. He was fortunate to survive, but surviving the flood was only the beginning. Now he needs our help rebuilding what was lost.
