Shelly’s Unexpected Medical Complications

On May 21st Shelly was rushed by squad from her doctors office with what they thought was double pneumonia. Her oxygen levels were dangerously close to organ shut down levels. After many tests ruling out viruses and bacterial infections all coming back negative they came to the diagnosis of Methotrexate Pneumonitis a very rare side effect of one of her psoriatic arthritis medicines. She is on oxygen, taking steroids and has been referred to the Mayo Clinic. The Mayo Clinic has agreed to see her but it is out of network with her insurance, they are requiring a $5000 deposit to even schedule her to be seen. She has been told that this will be a long recovery and may result in permanent lung damage (they are doing another scan in august to see). As of right now she can’t be up more than a half an hour and literally has only left the house for doctors visits, she has no energy at all.

Anyone who knows Shelly knows that before this, she was constantly moving whether at home or at work. While she is off work waiting for results and taking every test under the sun, she is not getting full pay. Her husband Abel has to take time off from his job to even take her to her appointments, and there are still many ahead.

This has lead to a decrease in their income. Since I knew they would never ask for help, I asked their permission to start this fundraiser on their behalf. Especially since they took me in last year without hesitation, I feel this is the least that can be done to help.

I understand for a lot of folks money is tight. Please know no donation is too small or unappreciated.

It has always been her dream to work at Walt Disney World and create magic for anyone and everyone she meets. Lets help create some for her and her family during this difficult time.
