Shelly’s fight against metastatic breast cancer

Hello, my name is Stacy Pontinen. I am hoping to raise some funds for my best friend, Shelly (Westby) Johnson. Shelly has been battling Metastatic Breast Cancer for quite some time and has found herself having to put on the gloves again. Here is a snapshot of the back story.

Shelly (Westby) Johnson was diagnosed with breast cancer about 3.5 years ago. She fought that cancer and won the first battle! Two years ago, she was on her way home from work when she had a seizure and crashed her vehicle. She broke her back and then was found to have cancer in her brain. This caused her seizure. She had metastatic breast cancer to her brain. Well she fought hard again and seemed to have won. But with subsequent scans, there were more mets to the brain. She fought those battles with cyber knife and chemo. She finally had a clear scan 3 months ago! Finally good news!! She felt better than she had for a long time. Well last Friday she had a routine scan and she was given the gut punching news. She has lesions again. This time it was not 1,2,or 3. No. This time there were too many to count. Cyber knife is no longer an option. My beautiful friend will begin the only available treatment on Monday. She will endure 3 weeks of whole brain radiation 5x/wk. This will cause some unwanted symptoms. She will lose her hair again. She will be very tired. She will get headaches. She could lose some memory. And a host of other things. This is the Hail Mary treatment. Unfortunately, the prognosis is not in her favor. She is no longer working. There will be medical costs even with insurance. So we have decided to help her and her family by raising funds and alleviate some of the stress that comes with cancer treatments. Please consider donating. Any amount helps.
